An idea born out of need, and a journey that turned this idea into a community…
SYNESIS PIGI AMKE was founded in Athens in 2020 by a group of people who had migrated from Turkey. Inspired by the difficulties they faced as migrants, the founders saw the potential for solidarity within Greek society.
As more people are forced to leave their homes due to war, economic crises, and climate change, finding sustainable solutions for housing, access to basic needs, social integration, and psychological support has become essential.
SYNESIS was created as a moral and social response to this need. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek word “synesis,” which means “understanding” and “common sense.” So we act not just with the goal of helping, but by creating solutions together.
At first, we provided housing and language education with the help of volunteers. Over time, our work expanded to include social support, psychological counseling, cultural activities, and human rights education.
Today, SYNESIS is a well-known social enterprise both in Greece and internationally.

All of the members of the organization are the refugees who had to leave their homeland Turkey because of security concerns.Besides that the organisation committed to the ideals of living together in peace and serving humanity, and it works within the framework of European Union and philanthropy.
